Six women with straightened, curly and brushed hair.

When choosing hair care and styling products, we need to remember that not every product matches every hair type. That’s why a hair mask that your mom or bestie thought was “the most amazing product, ever!” is not necessarily going to be what’s best for your hair type.

Hair types are determined by genetic factors, and are a part of our DNA. Hair stylists around the world differentiate between different types of hair textures. This type of hair classification system was first introduced by the international hair stylist Andre Walker. His method classifies different kinds of hair and hair curl patterns in a range of 1 to 4, where 1 is straight hair and 4 is extremely coily hair. In the middle of the range is wavy hair (2) and curly hair (3).

We need to identify which hair type we have, and choose products accordingly. Having said that, it’s important to consider chemical treatments that changes the hair’s structure – including coloring hair and straightening treatments.

How do you match your hair care routine to your hair type?

Hair that has undergone a straightening treatment or is frequently heat styled

Because hair straightening weakens hair and causes it to lose its natural moisture, it’s important to use specialized products that repair hair and restore moisture. Products that contain keratin are highly recommended because they repair the hair shaft and coat it with a protective layer for healthier, more radiant hair. In addition, it’s important to use products that are sodium chloride salt free, because salt strips away nutrients that help keep hair straight, ultimately destroying straightened hair.

Four products of Keratin Intense

Before heat styling your hair (using a blow dryer or flat iron), it is recommended that you use a product that will protect your hair against damage caused by heat-styling tools. Keratin cream, for example, creates a protective coating that smooths hair, for healthier hair and straightening results that last longer. Incidentally, keratin cream is also suitable for women with normal hair, who have not straightened their hair, but heat style it. Keratin cream is easily absorbed, and active ingredients are activated when they come into contact with heat from heat styling tools. The cream instantly forms a protective coating that protects hair against damage and makes hair more radiant.

Curly hair

Women with curly hair already know that having curls is challenging, and that curls require special care. This, in part, is because there are different types of curls and different types of hair patterns, each of which require specialized treatment. With curls, getting the right results has to do with understanding your curl type and using the right product:

Wavy hair – loose curls require a hair moisturizer that will give you natural curls.

Curly hair – is defined by curls that are round and large. These require a moisturizing cream with glaze to nourish hair and achieve long-lasting, defined curls.

Coily curls – are defined by curls that are small and tight and have lots of volume. For these, we’ll suggest a moisturizing cream with oil. Our intense moisturizer will soften untamed hair.

It is very important to choose sulfate and paraben free products, which guarantee high-quality formulas that curly hair desperately require, because they are so prone to dryness.

Trio Curley cream

Dry or damaged hair

Chemical treatments such as coloring and lightening hair, cause it to become dry and damaged. Colored hair has needs of its own, and requires regular care throughout the year. So, for colored hair, it’s best to choose products that are based on natural oils. In addition, use hair repair products such as a nourishing mask and serum that strengthens hair and makes it more radiant. It’s also important to choose gentle products that are SLS and paraben free and don’t cause hair to dry, or color to fade. Make sure that these products are safe for daily use. They will help strengthen hair that is prone to breakage.

Do you want to add volume to your fine hair? This guide will provide you with all the options.

Anybody who has fine and thin hair understands the problem and the desire for more volume and an impressive hair style. The world of hair care provides several easy solutions and hair treatments for thin hair that can be applied instantly.

With the help of Omer Asaf, Natural Formula’s chief hair designer, we’ve created this brief guide to help you achieve your goal. You can use any of the solutions we suggest for fine and thin hair, or combine them according to your personal preference – e.g. blow dry your hair and complete the process with hairspray.

Boost volume: blow dry or flip upside down and tease

Many women with fine and thinning hair are afraid to comb it because they fear that combing it will reduce what little volume they have. And they’re right. The solution is to comb hair toward the roots, or in other words, tease it. But be sure to use a comb and not a brush.

Another solution is to dry hair using a diffuser, flipping your hair and drying it upside down, from roots to tips. With this option, you’ll also be focusing on your roots, so that when you flip it, you’ll have created an effect that gives your hair more volume.

Volumizing Mousse

Make your hair look fuller: Volumizing Mousse
When hair is fine and thin, it looks flat and unflattering. Using mousse can solve the problem by adding volume without weighing hair down. Choose a mousse that contains high-quality, natural plant-based ingredients such as sunflower, peach, jojoba and silk protein that nourish and repair hair while boosting volume. This new generation of mousse doesn’t make hair stiff or crunchy, and leaves hair looking healthy.

How do you use it? Apply volumizing mousse on damp hair, especially on roots. Dry hair with a diffuser after flipping hair with your head down.

Volume Styling Spray

Keep hair looking full: Volume Styling Spray
After creating volume, either with a diffuser or by teasing hair, you’ll want to make sure that your hair stays in place all day with volumizing spray that adds volume to natural looking waves. Even if you don’t like the way mousse feels, you can still enjoy the feeling of a full-of-volume hairstyle, thanks to hairspray. Hairspray adds the illusion of volume to fine and thin hair, and it helps every hairstyle last throughout the day. In addition, it’s enriched with natural extracts and isn’t sticky. Gentle silicones add radiance, to leave hair shiny and beautiful.

How do you use it? After creating volume, hold can 20-30 cm away from hair and spray. To remove volume, and return hair to its pre-volume state, brush it out.

Dry Shampoo for Thin or Fine Hair

Instantly add volume, without washing hair: Dry Shampoo

When washing your hair isn’t possible, but your scalp is oily and your hair is fine and thin, dry shampoo is an easy and effective solution that doesn’t require water. In fact, all you need to do is spray it on and massage lightly. The dry shampoo will absorb oil and dirt, and cleanse hair in seconds, while boosting volume.

While there are lots of dry shampoos on the market, choose a dry shampoo that will specifically address your needs – that is, dry shampoo for fine and thin hair, that is enriched with jojoba and other ingredients, to add a ton of volume to your hair.

How do you use it? Spray, and massage into hair.

Woman with long blond straight hair.

In recent years, keratin hair repair treatment has gained momentum, becoming one of the hottest hair trends. It’s time to finally understand why.

If you’ve undergone a hair straightening treatment or a keratin treatment, your hair stylist has most likely told you that you need to start using products that are sodium chloride salt free. And if your hair is also dry, chances are you’ve read or have been told to use hair repair products that contain keratin. If you think that these are good recommendations, but you’re not quite sure what keratin is and how a keratin hair repair treatment can benefit your hair – this article is for you. In fact, it’s for all of us.

Let’s start with the most basic question: what is keratin?

Omer Asaf, Natural Formula’s chief hair stylist:
“Keratin is a protein that is naturally produced by the body, and is found predominantly in hair, skin and nails. Keratin is made up of acids that are connected to additional matter responsible for hair’s strength and radiance.”

Who should use products that contain keratin – is it only for people who straighten or heat style their hair?

“Definitely not. Keratin is great for those who blow dry or straighten their hair, because extreme heat damages and weakens hair. Chemical treatment such as permanent color treatments and even vigorous brushing, can weaken hair and cause split ends.
In addition, because the body’s production of keratin naturally diminishes with age, providing hair with keratin is like giving it an energy boost. It’s a vital addition for healthy hair, making it silky soft – a distinct effect of keratin that coats each strand and penetrates the hair shaft.

How does keratin work?

Hair products that contain a high percentage of pure keratin will help repair hair. Keratin fills the interior part of the hair strand and creates a type of external coating to protect hair against damage such as extreme heat, dryness and lack of moisture.

In addition, keratin makes hair smoother. And if we use keratin-rich products over time, hair will look smoother, shinier and healthier. And the same goes for straightened hair – whether you straighten it using a blow dryer or have a permanent straightening treatment – your hair will look better and last longer. Studies that analyzed the look and texture of hair with and without using hair products that contain a high percentage of pure keratin, found that the more you use products with keratin, the longer your soft and straightened hair will last.

Effect on hair before and after using keratin intens

What does salt have to do with keratin treated hair?

Sodium chloride, also known as salt, is found in many hair care products, but it can be very damaging to hair, destroying hair’s natural keratin coating. When this happens, hair looks dull and lifeless, dry and untamed. That’s why using products that contain a high concentration of pure keratin, can prevent hair’s weakening and breaking, while repairing it and helping it to look healthy, replenished and silky soft.

The keratin used in Natural Formula’s Keratin Intense line, is highly concentrated pure keratin with dual action. Studies show that keratin rebuilds the inner structure of the hair strand and creates a protective coating that smooths hair, ensuring that straightening results last three times longer.

Woman with long wavy blond hair.

We all have those bad hair days, when no matter what, your hair seems impossible to handle. But what happens when bad hair days turn into bad hair weeks and months? When hair becomes weak, lifeless, and prone to breakage? If this happens to you, read on. Because we’ve created this first-aid hair guide especially for you.

What causes dry and damaged hair?

Genetics is the first cause that comes to mind. But in reality, there are many environmental and hygienic factors that affect our hair, including: humidity, nutrition, emotional state, chemical treatments and more. Changes in any of the above can result in dry, lifeless hair, faded color, split ends, and hair that is difficult to control and style.

Minimize damage and repair hair

Shampoo less frequently

If your hair isn’t oily, and you aren’t exposed to extreme air pollution and dirt, you can definitely shampoo it only once or twice a week. Shampooing hair daily, strips it of its natural oils and may cause it to become dry.

Brush it

When you brush your hair, you’re also massaging your scalp and increasing the blood flow to your hair follicles, thus nourishing and strengthening hair. Brushing also helps in distributing the essential layer of oil which accumulates on the scalp and moisturizes hair. Aggressive brushing may stretch and tear hair, that’s why it’s recommended to gently brush damp hair, and apply a mask or conditioner for easier brushing.

Brashes

Protect your hair against damage caused by the weather

Weather can definitely affect hair, if it’s not treated properly. During the summer, the combination of the scorching sun, chlorine from the pool, and salt in sea water, weaken hair and cause it to lose its elasticity. That’s why using a mask at least once a week, is very important, especially in the summer. During the winter, when dry weather causes your hair to frizz, use a serum that will rejuvenate and moisturize your hair.

Nutrition – not just for your body

Good nutrition can greatly enhance the way your hair looks, making it shinier and more flexible. In order to provide your hair with the nutrients it needs, it’s important to eat foods that contain a high percentage of essential fatty acids, such as avocado, salmon and olive oil. Quick fix and extreme diets may damage hair, so maintaining a balanced and controlled diet is extremely important.

And most importantly – moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!

Dry hair tends to break easily, which is the first sign that your hair needs more moisture. In this case, an intensive treatment will do the trick – a nutrient-rich and restorative treatment will leave your hair feeling silky and give it a beautiful shine. These treatments are usually sold at salons, and can be quite expensive. They also require us to carve out time in our busy schedules to get to the salon and purchase them.

Thankfully, we have a solution for you – the Ampoule Intense series. Our professional hair products contain a restorative oil ampoule, and provide a targeted hair treatment for damaged hair. This is an innovative and groundbreaking technology! Ampoule Intense products contain micro-ampoules that remain fresh until they come in contact with your hair. Four women facing back with straight hair, brown, dark brown hair, blonde and black

Colored hair requires special treatment. In this article, you’ll find hot tips to keep your hair soft, radiant and revitalized.

It’s always fun to color hair with a hair color treatment that highlights your natural beauty and keeps you looking sharp and beautiful. The problem is, when most women color their hair, it loses its soft and natural touch. And while colored hair is a fantastic solution for either a light or heavy-duty makeover, it’s important to nourish it with products that will help protect it against dryness and breakage.

So if you color your hair, here are some fantastic tips to help you maintain your hair color treatment and protect your colored hair:

1. When should you get a professional hair color treatment at a salon?

If you want to lighten your already colored hair, your best bet, is to do it in a salon. That means, that if you have black hair, but have decided that you want to try out blonde hair – don’t color it yourself. If you have dark brown hair, red hair or black hair (natural or dyed), using a blonde do-it-yourself lightening kit, won’t give you blond hair. In fact, it might turn your hair green (or give it a green tint). Drastically switching hair colors requires lightening it first, which is best done by a professional.

2. Coloring your hair at home

If you’re looking to swap your lighter color hair for a darker color, or if you want to stick with a natural color, you can safely color your hair at home. It’s easy and economical, as well as user-friendly and effective. The hottest trend these days is to not get too dramatic with color, but rather to stick with natural shades, so that hair blends well with your eyebrows, skin tone and roots.

3. How often should you wash your color-treated hair?

Wash your hair too often, and your hair will dry out, as shampoo robs your hair of sebum – the natural oils released through your scalp to moisten your hair and which causes colored hair to fade faster. That’s why, you should only wash your hair when it feels dirty.

4. Shampoo and Conditioner

In order to keep hair soft, radiant and moisturized, use shampoo and conditioner especially for hair that has undergone a hair color treatment. It’s especially important to use a gentle formula that is SLS and paraben free, so that it won’t dry out your hair and won’t cause your color to fade.

Ampoule Intense ConditionerAmpoule Intense Shampoo

5. Mask

At least once a week, use an intensive hair mask. It will revitalize your hair, restore moisture lost during the hair coloring process, and protect color.

Ampoule Intense Hair Mask

6. Serum

Serum treats hair that is prone to breakage, seals split ends and makes hair soft and silky. It may be used daily on dry or damp hair. Avoid an oily scalp by only applying to tips.

Ampoule Intense Serum

7. Hair Oil

Hair oil makes hair shiny and radiant. It is best used for an emergency hair repair treatment for very dry hair. It may be used on dry or damp hair.

8. Drying hair

.Do not use a blow dryer or other heat-styling tools after every time you wash your hair, as they can dry out hair and cause your color to quickly fade. If you’re addicted to your blow dryer, make sure not to use it on high heat and fully dry it. Instead, leave it a bit damp and allow it to air dry. Avoid drying the tips of your hair in order to prevent split ends.

9. Hair Tips

Trim your hair regularly. The healthier your hair is, the longer your color will last. Trimming your hair every six weeks will keep your hair stronger and healthier, from roots to tips.

10. Don’t touch!

Refrain from touching your hair as much as you can. Constantly touching it, breaks down nutrients and increases scalp sensitivity.

Two women with long wavy blond hair.

The way we treat our hair matters. Hair is one of the most prominent characteristics of our external appearance. We spend hours combing and washing it, applying hair masks and color, and creating elaborate hairstyles. The way our hair looks affects our mood and the way we feel – when our hair is at its best, we feel great, but we’re highly embarrassed when our hair doesn’t behave and we’re having a bad hair day because our hair looks flat and dull. That’s just one of the reasons we’re constantly looking for the best hair treatment to protect our hair and keep it looking at its best.

Our best intentions to keep our hair looking great is one of the main reasons we cause it so much damage on a daily basis. This happens as a result of washing it too frequently, heat styling it, using products that contain lots of chemicals, coloring it and more.

So, what are the best ways we can treat our hair and what is the best hair treatment to keep it healthy and beautiful.

Here are 10 tips to keep in mind:

1. Get your hair cut regularly

To avoid split ends and keep your hair healthy and beautiful, make sure to regularly cut your hair – about a half an inch every 6-8 weeks.

2. Avoid washing your hair every day

Washing your hair every day can damage your hair. Wash it every 2-3 days, instead.

3. Rinse your hair with cold water

Rinse your hair with cold water to protect your hair, maintain its health and increase shine.

4. Treat yourself to a scalp massage

Washing your hair is the perfect time to treat yourself to a vigorous scalp massage. It can help create more lather and increase circulation which helps promote healthier, more beautiful hair. Make sure to massage gently so as not to damage your hair.

5. Only comb and brush your hair when it’s dry

When hair is wet, it is weaker and more prone to breakage. Prefer to comb your hair before getting in to the shower. If you really need to comb it in the shower, wash it first with conditioner, gently comb it with a wide-tooth comb, then rinse.

6. Nourish your hair with a hair treatment

Don’t count just on shampoo to keep your hair soft, shiny and healthy looking. Provide your hair with the best hair treatment you can give it: a daily two-minute, fragrant, leave-in conditioner, and a weekly rich nourishing hair mask treatment. If your hair is dry and has split ends, use serum for your tips, as needed. Providing your hair with the proper hair treatment, will give it the energy boost it needs.

7. Choose and use products from just one brand

It’s best to use the same brand of shampoo and conditioner. For one, the products contain active ingredients designed to complement each other. For another, using different brands can cause active ingredients to counteract.

8. Choose products that match your hair type

Not every product will match your hair type. Different needs require different products. So, if you have dry and damaged hair, don’t use products for someone with oily hair. Identify your hair type and adjust your products to your needs.

9. Try to avoid harsh chemical treatments

Similar to all treatments that burn and dry out hair, harsh chemical straightening treatments and hot fusion hair extensions weigh down hair and increase hair loss. If you’ve decided to chemically straighten your hair anyway, choose a straightening treatment that uses high quality ingredients and is approved by the Ministry of Health. When it comes to hair extensions, make sure to choose the lightest extensions possible so that they don’t pull and weigh down your hair.

10. Maintain a balanced diet

Hair cells grow faster than any other cells in our body. But because they’re not essential for survival, they’re also the first to be affected by poor nutrition. That’s why, in order to main strong and healthy-looking hair, it’s important to eat foods rich in iron. These include: leafy greens, fish, seeds and whole grains, as well as proteins found in foods such as soy, lentils, dairy products, quinoa and more.
